WOLLSTONECRAFT
I had a plan—that is until those pesky rejection letters thwarted all my best laid schemes. But since there was/is no plan b, I find myself suspended somewhere between grad school and the next step, convincing naysayers that pursuing a PhD in a field that seems to be fading in importance (yet that is still ironically competitive) is worth the pain and stress. During my forced hiatus, instead of being sucked into the black hole of despair that was the month of March 2010, I have decided that I would find ways to be a scholar, teacher, reader and writer outside of the fortress that is academia. Though I will be knocking on their gates again in November, for now, I will write, research and scheme, for myself. As my name-sake suggests, my research is feminist-focused, concerned with the perceptions of rape in literature and society. However, my blog posts will go beyond my research and my life as a scholar; I plan to muse upon and discuss the many books I am reading, my experiences as a tutor, and my new-found desire to write.
